            HCC Northeast Facts

  • HCC Northeast was established in July 1991, when the Board of Trustees reorganized the System into regional colleges which would put education back into the neighborhoods.
  • HCC Northeast is comprised of five campuses—Northeast Campus, Northline Campus, Pinemont Center, Automotive Technology Center, and the North Forest Campus.
  • Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher has served as president of HCC Northeast since 1997. Under her leadership, the college has experienced unprecedented growth from 3,500 students to over 10,000 students enrolled each semester in academic, workforce, continuing education, and adult basic education programs.
  • Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher has provided leadership in campus development, the acquisition of over $250 Million dollars for infrastructure development and construction of new facilities, and the implementation of leading-edge educational programs.
  • HCC Northeast provides academic, career and technical, continuing, and adult basic education programs to residents from 14 zip codes in north and east Houston. HCC Northeast provides dual credit courses to students at 19 northeast area high schools in Houston ISD and North Forest ISD.
  • The former Northline Center, located in the Northline Mall, opened for classes in spring 1993 with approximately 50 students. The mall location introduced a new educational concept, becoming the first “Campus in a Mall” in the greater Houston area.
  • The newly built Northline Campus opened for summer classes in May 2008.The multi-storied 116,500 square-foot campus is located at 8001 Fulton Rd. at Lyerly St., near I-45 North and Crosstimbers Rd. Northline Campus provides academic and workforce training and houses the North Houston Early College High School.
  • The Automotive Technology Training Center (ATTC) trains technicians for high-tech work in the automotive and diesel repair industries. ATTC offers a state-of-the-art curriculum, a well-equipped facility, and hands-on training by experienced, certified instructors.
  • Pinemont Center is nestled in the midst of the Acres Home, Independence Heights, Pinemont, and Heights communities. Pinemont Center is a full-service center that provides academic and workforce training to students working toward certifications and AAS degrees and is most known for training offered in Drafting and Design.
  • The Northeast Campus opened in 1999 and is a comprehensive college campus that also offers specialized vocational/technical training to meet Houston’s high-tech workforce needs.
  • Northeast Campus comprises 138 acres and is located in the heart of Houston’s energy and transportation industries. The campus is comprised of five high-tech instructional facilities that provide academic and career technical education.
  • Located at the Northeast Campus, the 47,000 square foot Science & Technology Hall now houses the academic science center and the HCC Division of Science and Engineering Technologies and adds state-of-the art specialized labs and classrooms that support training in the areas of Biotechnology, Process Technology, Instrumentation & Controls, Chemical Laboratory, and other energy and related career fields.
  • The Learning Hub is a 90,000 square foot facility that adds 14 classrooms for instruction that are designed to transform teaching and learning by using smart technology.
  • The new 20,000 sq. ft. library in the Learning Hub includes new computer labs, a reading learning center, study rooms and meeting space for students.
  • The Learning Hub has a one-stop shop for registration and admissions, student life center, job placement center, and General Assembly Room for meetings and events. Other services at Northeast Campus include counseling, financial aid, tutoring, assessment testing, cashier’s office, and a childcare drop-off center.
  • Dr. John E. Codwell Hall is an academic facility located at Northeast Campus that includes 30 general classrooms, 11 specialized labs, offices, student café and game room.
  • Roland Smith Commercial Truck Driving Center is a 13,000 square foot facility located at Northeast Campus that includes eight instructional classrooms, a two-way traffic driving track, “wet Skid” pad, and parking and docking area.
  • The Public Safety Institute located at Northeast Campus includes a training tower, firing range, burn building, and 525,000 square foot driving track and swift water rescue pond. PSI provides training in EMS, Fire Technology, and Law Enforcement training 70% of Houston’s critical personnel.
  • Since 1971, Houston Community College has committed to delivering quality education and training to the residents of North Forest Independent School District (NFISD). In November 2009, seventy-three percent of North Forest residents voted to bring North Forest ISD into the HCC District through annexation.
  • HCC Northeast opened the HCC North Forest Vocational Technical Campus as a temporary location at NFISD’s Forest Brook Middle School in spring 2010, offering classes to the community on weekday evenings and Saturdays.
