Houston Community College Northeast invites the community to the Art Hub Gallery to view the exhibit “Truthful Realities: Confrontational Art” followed by a reception on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the HCC Northeast Campus, 555 Community College Drive, 77013. For details, call Aundrea Matthews at 713.718.2160.

The recent work of artist El Franco Lee II, “Truthful Realities: Confrontational Art” is a collection inspired by the artist’s impressions and reflections of real life events and innovative renderings of the unexpected. He paints with acrylics and draws using pencil and ink in the art style of Mannerism interlacing his own unique style of intricate and exaggerated human form to depict urban situations seldom communicated on canvas.
Lee is a native Houstonian who received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Houston in 2007. A rising artist in the community, his exhibitions have included Gift of the Spirit (A partnership of JP Morgan Chase and Art League Houston), Project Row Houses and the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston, among several others.
The Art Hub Gallery is the latest addition to the many programs that HCC Northeast offers to the community. The first of its kind in the East Loop and I-10 East area, the Art Hub Gallery at HCC Northeast is poised to enrich residents of Pleasantville, Clinton Park, Songwood, Denver Harbor, Fifth Ward and surrounding communities.
Stressing the importance of infusing art with education, the Art Hub Gallery hosts various art collections throughout the year for the benefit of the college’s students and surrounding communities. The exhibition runs July 9 through August 9. For more information on the exhibition and gallery hours, visit northeast.hccs.edu.
