2012 Minority Male Initiative STEM Ceremony

Houston Community College’s Minority Male Initiative took time to celebrate the success of middle and high school students in the Summer STEM Academy held at HCC Northeast.

MMI helps provide real life, practical, hands-on learning experiences for minority males in grades 7-12. The idea is to develop a sound foundation of learning activities that enable young minority males to complete high school and pursue a college degree.

I think this is a wonderful view of what the future looks like in the STEM area; It reminds me of how I must continue to help other youth – particularly those in the inner city; STEM has always been an area I found myself helping students to come up with great science projects especially those with a philanthropic heart- these sent students to the national/international level of competition; this same energy lead my 2 daughters in engineering programs at Rice and MIT; keep up the good work and remember, your efforts have not gone unnoticed -
