Dr. Mary Spangler, HCC Chancellor, Dr. Art Tyler, Deputy Chancellor, and Gigi Do, Executive Director, joined CCQ in Doha, Qatar, on May 15 to congratulate 11 CCQ graduates. A special review team from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) visited HCC's global partner in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in April. Vice President of Commission on Colleges Dr. Robin W. Hoffman led the review team which included Ms. Suzanne Barr, Chair, Associate Vice President for Planning and Accreditation for Trident Technical College, Dr. Barbara Tansey, Vice President of Academic and Student Services for Fayetteville Technical and Community College, and Dr. David Moore, Associate Vice President for International Education of Broward College. Houston Community College students gathered at 3100 Main on Thursday, May 3, in preparation for the college's study abroad trips this summer. Gigi Do, Executive Director of the Office of International Initiatives, was selected by her colleagues to be the recipient of the Chancellor's Eagle Award. The HCC 2011-2012 Faculty and Staff Eagle Award winners were announced at a luncheon Wednesday, March 21. The Chancellor’s Eagle Awards recognize faculty and staff members whose exceptional service helps us realize our mission of being an opportunity institution for local students and the most relevant community college in the nation.
